There are a lot of varieties, but your "standard" bobwhite is larger than the "standard" coturnix. The Jumbo Coturnix might be larger than say a Butler Bobwhite, but then the Georgia Bobwhite might be larger....

I don't know about those. I have the Butler Bobwhites, and both brown coturnix and Jumbo browns, and I can say with certainty that the Butler Bobwhite is larger than the coturnix.

Perhaps someone with more experience with the other breeds will pop in and let us know what the largest breed is...

I'd like to know, so I can start raising them! LOL!

Mountain are the largest new world quail (different family - Odontophoridae), the Bush Quail are probably the largest of the old word quail if you don't include partridge & francolin in the mix.

I received my mixed shipment of eggs today, and the Golden Coturnix are 1/3 again as large as the bobwhite eggs.

Have a question for all you quail people. I have a hen with a hurt leg. What can I do for her. She is super tiny(button). The skin is pulled back some on it. My boxer decided he needed to play with her. I don't know how she got out of the cage I have them in. I have her separated now in a shoe box. Let's just say that me and the boxer is not on the best of terms right now


edited to add: She is not bleeding and there are not puncture wounds.......
