I'm interested in hatching my own quail this year. what are somethings to look out for when transering the chicks to brooder. also how long from after they hatch till the transfer

Everybody has different methods but for me, I wait until the chick is completely dry before I move them to the brooder. Before I transfer them to the brooder, I make sure the brooder is the same temperature as the incubator (99.5 degrees) and every week I reduce the heat around 5 degrees until they are fully feathered. I also make sure I have something shinny (marbles) in the water for the first 2 weeks until they chicks start drinking on their own. I also line the floor with food for the first two weeks before I put the ground up food into the feeder containers.

Hope this helps.
