Hi guys im new to BYC and ive recently hatched out some cotournix quail eggs. I plan to breed them but im not sure out the different genes that the different colour varieties posses , ive heard about them ( lethal, reccesive) but please could someone simply explain about the genes.

WOW. thanks they are really good. are rain quail from the USA because im from the uk and i dont think we have them ????
the harlequins are beautiful !!!!!!

Rain Quail are from Pakistan 10 Rs per bird (thats 7p each or 15 Rs prosessed LOL)

im also from UK

i have japanese and italian

think i got some english whites as well

but the only hatched yesterday so need to wait

one thing to bear in mind is only coturnix can be bred to coturnix

you cant interbreed genuses as they wont be fertile and really not recommended keeping in the same pen anyway

well done on your chicks !!!May i ask if all of your chicks had toes and legs that were straight because when mine hatched two of them had curled up toes and their ankles were twisted, and i dont want to destroy them but they are finding hard to walk which makes it hard to get food and water.
do you have any sort of explanation or cure for this. ?????

yes your right
RUPEES

although I'm British born and bred my roots are from Pakistan so i do go there often

and quails are a fun food, street seller are everywhere with their little cages and selling them

what i was thinking is something i saw here on this forum

a flat paper with toe loops like a flip flop

but that was done on a chicken chick

quails are tiny so dunno how well it will work

yes that would be a problem.
uuuum
maybe you could wait till they are older and then it could be a bit easier but then again they would special care until their feet got big enough!!!
but im sure i will think of something LOL
where abouts from the uk are you because im always on the look out for some new quails !!! if they are available ???

cant wait till they are older

must be done asap before the feet bone harden and set and then are never correctable

im in berkshire (west London sides) from winchester that the M3 off at junction 3 onto A322 follow it on to A329M then get on to M4 J10 East bound and get off at Junction 6 and that me

hatching eggs and chicks will be available once they lay and i incubate my lot that i need (about 60 i will hatch out for my self when they mature) the rest will be available either as eating or hatching eggs and spare chicks to increase others flocks
