Quail gone broody :) :) :)

I would let her raise them, check in on them but its rare for them to go broody so you want to let her raise and keep them as much as possible.

Here she is! Two chickies and one I don't know that will make it. It was left by her along with two other eggs and was freezing cold when I picked it up. We shall see. I'll keep my updates going!

Ps - it's like 85 or 90 degrees here today so I think that's why the chicks seem pretty happy moving around away from her. :)

here is the one I'm not sure will make it. Any suggestions on what I can so to help him? I already have it under the brooding lamp along with the two other eggs she left behind. Pretty sure one is a dud but the other egg, I can feel something moving around in.

you could try some water with electrolytes in it that might be enough to get him going but I wouldn't count on it or the mother would have stayed with them unless you disturbed her too much. Good Luck and cute chicks.

Thanks grandma bird. I think she is not going to make it so just making her as comfortable as possible. Ah well.
Micah - I have no clue! She has been "broody" a few times where she has sat for a few days but this time, she stayed on the pile. I had to remove the male because he was abusing her once she went broody, poor girl.

Poor wee thing. I'm glad you're trying to make its beginning/end of life as comfortable as it can be.

I'm curious. When did you get the idea she would sit on this batch? Did she lay the eggs all in a special spot? Seem to watch over them until she was ready to sit on them?
I just wonder if any of mine have a chance of hatching their own eggs. But you wouldn't be able to tell until you let them accumulate eggs for a week, is that right?
