Quail hatch. Follow along.

Today is day 18 for the first clutch, day 8 for the second, and day 1 for the third. Everything is going great. All the eggs are rotating well. There is 42 eggs in the incubator as of now. The first batch is if I am lucky will start to pip/hatch from this weekend to Monday or Tuesday. I will wait for a pip before I go into lockdown. What type of enclosure ( dome type of enclosure, or a hutch) would you think would best suit the gambel quail?

Today is day 19 for the 1st clutch, day 9 for the second, and day 2 for the 3rd. We are one day away from lockdown which is day 20. Everything is going great! I was thinking of building a hutch like enclosure that is 3-4 feet tall and about 7-9 feet wide. I would like to keep a colony of quail but I know that is a long shot. I wanted to keep 2-3 pairs, would that be good enough?

I wouldn't go to 'lockdown' that early, considering you're situation. I'd lockdown on day 22....and even then wouldn't raise the humidity more than 55%.

I agree it would be a lil early, because of the other eggs that need a few more days. Day 21 or 22 would make for a better hatch rate, in my opinion.

Yes I wasn't gonna go into lockdown until one had pipped. I had just woken up so I was still in a daze lol

Today is day 20 for first clutch, day 10 for second, and day 3 for third. No pips yet but everything is going good. I'm excited and. Cant wait for one to hatch.

You're not likely to see a pip until day 23.

Today is day 22. I didn't expect to say this but, there is a pip in one of the eggs! I stopped the egg turner and it is moving around in the incubator. I will send a picture when the pip becomes more noticeable.
