I have 2 quails that have pipped over 24 hours ago and still have not hatched. They have made progress yesterday and I can see them breathing and trying to kick and peck their way out but have not made much progress overnight. Should I help them or continue to wait? This is my first time hatching so I'm a little worried about messing up. Really thought they would've hatched last night. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I also have one that pipped but has not done anything since. The most I got from it was a bit of peeping. From what I could tell, the pip hole closed up. What should I do about that one?

It's always hard to know when to intervene. What day of incubation is it? If past time for hatching take that into consideration. Also, if the eggs have been pipped a long time the membrane may be dried out preventing the chicks from hatching. You may have to decide to sacrifice one to find out. Hopefully it will be the right decision and no sacrifice is made.

Good luck.

They should gave hatched last night .Around 9pm central time was the 24 hour mark. The light egg keeps pushing it's beak out of the pip hole ,the other one tries to kick out. Just wondering if I should wait a bit longer to see if they make any more progress or try to help them at this point

Yes. I helped them both out on Tuesday and this is them currently. 2 very tiny babies. Temp in brooder is just under 100°, probably about 95ish° by now. They know where food and water is. As for the third, it did not make it. I assume it suffocated. The pip hole did look like it closed from drying up
