Hello all, one of my quails started hobbling on her left leg while the toes on her right leg curled up before putting on ground. I checked but there was no injuries on the right leg or anywhere on her body. She walked like that for several weeks then it got worse, she now walks with her both legs low on the ground, like her legs cannot carry her weight.

The problem is now another female quail has the same walking behavior, started with hobbling on the left leg.

Is this caused by a disease? I've been giving them vitamin D for 2 days now but no help. They are all female of over 1 year old.

One thing was some of my quail chicks used yo have problem walking before, similar to the current problem. I gave them vit. D and they could overcome it.

It saddens us thinking they’ll be dieing one day from not being able to walk.

Thanks!

Can you post pictures of their legs and feet?
Please find some pics of their feet and legs and videos of them walking. I think the issue might lie in the feet as they borh are very hesitant putting the feet down; and once down, the feet curl up instead of placing plat on ground. Maybe the feet hurt?

Sorry I could not uploaded the videos as the extension is not supported.

No worries. You can upload the video to YouTube and post a link here. Their feet don't look bad, but I see one spot on one toe that might be an issue, but I can't tell for sure. You might try giving them a warm (a couple of degrees above quail body temp) epsom salt bath. That will soothe their feet and clean them off at the same time so you can get a better look at them.

I followed your advice and cleaned their legs in warm epsom salt water. They both have this one dot on one of the feet but the thing is the dot does not hurt them when we rub on it.
