Quail need other quail around. I would try finding a friend. A lonely quail will be stressed and a stressed quail is susceptible to illness.
Before you do that you'll want to make sure your cage is secure. You don't want your quail getting out and you don't want other things getting in. Generally speaking it's best to give them as much space as you can manage. They can do okay with less space but they'll be much happier if they have more room.
As for egg laying. If you are in the northern hemisphere chances are she won't start laying until spring when the days start to get longer (unless you are providing extra light). My quail have stopped laying for the year.
