Hi All!

I bought my 3 hens ( Patsy, Tammy, Dolly) and a cock (Kenny) home last Friday. They’ve been indoors in their indoor cage since then as the weather has been foul but they’ll have an area outdoors for when it’s brighter.

I’m new to quails and just wondered how long it might take for the girls to lay? Also does anyone have any tips for helping get them a little tamer?

i’m making an assumption that they are coturnix? in which case hens mature and begin laying at approximately 6-8 weeks of age. if they are of age, it can take a couple of weeks for them to be comfortable enough to resume laying and can still be effected by moving cages and amount of light especially as we move into shorter days.

quail are a bird that either like to be held or not i have 207quail about 30 of them like to be held thats it just keep picking them up you may never tame them im sorry to say

If they are Coturnix it will take 6 weeks or more till they start laying. Taming wise Quail aren't the taming type of birds unless you breed them to be. If you want to try to tame them you need to start when they are chicks.
