I've just purchased some quail and had planned on housing them in a chicken coop. The coop has a ramp that is several feet long which leads into the nesting/sleeping area. There is a large amount of room down below for out door activities. As I've looked a quail housing photos, I've realized that none of the photos show this type of housing. Will quail not ascend a ramp, or are there other reasons?

I make a pile of hay about 2 feet high that makes a ramp to the roof of one of the houses and they climb up and down it all day. I bet they'll figure it out.

Oops, I meant to reply to Quail Jailor. However I my hope was that they'd figure it out. I guess that I'll just wait for better weather and see what happens. They may take to straw bales better than a ramp. Thanks for your input.

I'd say they have a good chance of figuring it out, what else are they going to do with all that free time? ; )

I got 13 Coturnix quail last week and in their aviary they have a ramp going to their coop. They don't even step on the ramp let alone go up it, I'm going to have to put the coop on the ground, I advise you should to or just put them in there at night and take them out in the morning manually. (That is what I do atm)
