Quail inflamed eye :’(

My poor little quail has an inflamed third eyelid. We left home for a while and the water got filthy and I think she got a bacterial infection. How can I treat it? Unfortunately, due to my situation, I cannot visit a vet . I have washed her eye already with water but I am doubtful that her infection will get better without treatment. Here is a picture of her eye. :’( I really want her to live, she‘s a house pet and she means my world .

If you have any Terramycin, you might put a little bit on the eye. I use it for a lot of my eye injuries and it works really well. I hope she gets better!

I heard I can’t purchase Terramycin without a prescription (I live in CA). Do you have any other recommendations? I heard saline water can help but I’m not sure if it will be a permanent solution.

The saline water will help clean out anything that might be in the eye that’s irritating it. Can’t hurt! I also live in CA and have had no issues getting Terramycin. I usually buy through Amazon, it’s not real expensive either! Also you can spray some Vetrycin if you have it around the eye too, which can do in a pinch. I use it mainly when my quail fight each other and peck at their eyes or scalp each other. I hope you are able to get her all fixed up

I think the reason now is that I have one quail (I have 2 housed together as house pets) that is bullying and pecking at her. She has a couple of feathers missing and she really isn’t liking it. I’ve tried many ways and asked oh this forum before but I just can’t seem to stop them from fighting. Before, I had them in a larger setup with some places to hide, so they stopped fighting. However, once we left the house, I took away the larger setup and hiding places to ensure their safety. Turns out, that just made them fight . Now that we’re back, I still can’t stop the bully. :’(

It went away by itself and they are now living a happy luxurious life
