Quail Nest Boxes Work

I haven't tried one, but it will defiantly keep some/most of the sand in.

It has become the norm for all of my hens to use the nest box. Today I noticed that more than half of the alfalfa had been eaten out of the nest box. So Having access to fresh ( I actually mean still growing in the field fresh ) I put more in for them to enjoy. All eggs are being laid in the nest box at this time. I really like the fact they took to it and that the eggs are clean. Still only getting 5 eggs a day though. I think I need to get about 8 more hens to see if I can up the egg production.

One aspect of the nest boxes that I failed to mention is that the nest box was in the coop from day one with the quail. So they are and always were familiar with it. So maybe it is effective because they were never afraid of it. And it was never an addition, they were conditioned with it being in the coop this whole time they were alive. Maybe this had something to do with it or maybe not. But, it is probably worth mentioning.
