It looks like she's pooping, so I would say not egg bound. What are you feeding her? Is she getting enough calcium?

The nutrition information on her feed would help.

I’ve only been breeding button quail for 6 months, but had an egg binding scare. To me, it looks like the egg broke inside her. Is the shell hard like it usually is, or soft, or more like a membrane? It may have been a shell-less egg that ruptured. And if that’s the case, I think she’d need to be flushed and on antibiotics. When my quail had a shell-less egg in her and it was gone the next day, the vet believed her body absorbed it because she said there was no membrane in there and nothing came out, but she still flushed her and put her on antibiotics.

Does it feel like there are more eggs in there? If she laid an egg with no shell, her calcium may be too low. Is she getting supplemental calcium? My vet advised crushing a calcium citrate pill for humans and putting “a pinch” into a tiny amount of food, and only offering that food until it was gone so we know she ate it. Additionally, she gets a bowl of calcium on the side that she can free feed as she wants.

I think I see poop on the towel, so she may not be bound. But if you feel eggs that she’s not laying, there are the typical remedies for that.

Don’t just take my advice though…these other guys know way more than me.

Idk how to tell! And if so please any advice on how to help her?? I thought egg bound can only happens with chickens ( I am fairly new with quail )
Egg binding can definitely happen with quail. What are you doing with her eggs? Do you collect them as she lays? She may be low on calcium, and my vet told me to leave her eggs with her (or put similar looking eggs with her). Once there’s a good amount, she’ll stop laying. Sure enough, when I did this, my girl stopped laying and can now her body can focus on healing and replenishing the calcium she was severely deficient of.
