I've heard of using black tea and gently rubbing it on the eye can soothe infection. Its used for pink eye in humans, and apparently people have used it with poultry before as well with decent results. You could give that a shot.
Just wondering, is she purposely shutting her eyes, or are her eyes swollen/sticky?
Also, I would check to see if its a respiratory infection, as eye infections can lead to such. Check for any discharge from the nose or any difficulties breathing (wheezing, heavy, etc.)
