Quail Run?

Ok so quail cant free range so the best thing i can think of is a quail run. Could you do that and could they live in it all the time. They would have a little shelter inside to keep them warm and stuff. And in the winter would they have to have a little insulated shelter or what?

What kind of quail? You certainly can and they would love it! They'll like bushes and other things to hide under, they love dust baths like chickens too.

It will depend on how many quail you want to keep. I kept 14 quail in a 12x16 foot enclosed garden. They used all of that space. The bigger the better in my opinion. It doesn't have to be tall, but that would make it easier to clean for you.

A tractor style would be great but quail do attract predators, particularly owls and other birds of prey as well as cats and their heads will fit through chicken wire. 1/4" hardware cloth for the sides of their enclosure is best.
