Quail Still Not Laying any Eggs

I think I've asked this before, but are you sure they aren't eating them? I find it odd that none of them have laid an egg yet, these are coturnix, right?

Rodriguez, any eggs yet? i have a batch--over 16 weeks that have been laying for a long time. right beside them are birds 9 weeks old, and they are NOT laying. Same light, same environment totally. But no eggs for the second batch.

Just wondering if yours are laying yet.

Are the second batch jumbo sized birds? My jumbos didn't start until they were 8-11 weeks, most closer to 11.

Still got nada.

They don't even seem to be breeding anymore.

Who did you get them from? Were they eggs or grown birds? If they were grown, they might be too old. Either way, I think I would cull and start over, they should be laying at least some by now. You are sure they are coturnix? (I know I keep asking, it just seems so WEIRD!)

They weren't grown, they still had fuzz on their heads when I got them.

Apparently I just suck at raising quail.

What brand of feed are they getting?
I picked some up at a farm store I don't usually go to and my chickens hated it.

No, mine are third generation from my original 6. I saved up eggs to incubate from the original 6, hatched them out, separated breeding combos,, incubated some of their eggs, and those are the ones who are not laying. I have more going in the incubator today. I will not cull the layers until I start getting eggs to continue the process.

CHICKENS ARE DIFFERENT ANIMALS THAN QUAIL--- TRY A BAG OF PURINA GAMEBIRD FEED JUST FOR GIGGLES. I WOULDNT CULL THEM AT THIS POINT. AND AS FAR AS THE STATEMENT " I MUST SUCK AT RAISING QUAIL" THATS NOT TRUE, YOU DID AFTERALL RAISE THEM TO ADULTHOOD, NOW YOU MAY SUCK AT PICKING BREEDER STOCK....

JUST KIDDING. THERE HAS TO BE A REASON HERE--- EITHER THEY ARENT AS OLD AS YOU THINK, THERE ARENT ANY HENS, THEY'RE MISSING SOMETHING FROM THE DIET, OR AS SHELLY SAID THEY MAY WELL BE EATING THEM( IF THAT PROVES TO BE THE CASE THEN THEY GO TO CAMP KENMORE QUICKLY)--- THERE HAS TO BE A REASON HERE. I DONT THINK ITS PREDATION--- AS MINE WILL LAY THE SAME DAY THEY ARE ATTACKED BY HAWKS--- SO THATS NOT IT. ANY CHANCE OF SNAKES GETTING INTO THE PEN? SOME SNAKES WILL EAT EGGS AT AN ALARMING RATE. AS WILL SOME RODENTS. AND RACOONS, SKUNKS, ETC...

HOW ABOUT THIS.... SIT DOWN AND POST HERE THE TYPICAL DAY FOR YOU AND THE QUAIL--- EVERYTHING--- DAYBREAK TIME, HIGH AND LOW TEMPS FOR THE DAY, SUNSET TIME, WHEN YOU FEED, DAILY EGG CHECK TIMES, EVERYTHING--- THE MORE INDETAIL THE BETTER. ALOS CAN YOU GET PIX SHOWING THE BIRDS THEMSELVES-- AS INDIVIDUALS? I KNOW YOU SAID EARLIER THAT ITS A MIXED SEX BATCH--- HOW DO YOU KNOW? I'M TRYING HARD TO COVER ALL THE BASES HERE....
