Hey everyone. New to quail, new to the forum.

My coturnix quail are 7 weeks old to the day, so eggs should be coming any day now, right?

One female has been hiding off in the corners, behind greenery, standing real still, fluffing her feathers, and sort of trembling.

I was wondering if this was what it looked like the first time they lay eggs, or if there was some sort of problem or sickness.

Thanks in advance!

If that penguin-like upright pose continues too long you have to look closely, though. Upright stance, pushing or heaving motion, and just general discomfort like being unnaturally quiet, drowsy and fluffing feathers could all indicate egg binding.
