green wood? pressure treated, they use some pretty frisky chemicals with that stuff. I admit, I have used it. You are making me think.
painting it, what kind of paint would be a good question. I understand sealing it with a wood sealer somehow if you were concerned, but what kind of sealant. makes me think.
so, my mantra, I think to myself, I may not know everything, but somewhere there is a bird that would rather be in my environment than where they are right now, maybe with no food or water, being rained on, waiting on a bad owner.
you can open a can or worms with questions, everyone has an answer. I try to gather information, engage like minds in data filled debate, make an informed decision and be ready to bear the consequences- good or bad.
my sig line says it better than I can.
best of luck!

you said it pretty well yeah the MSDS sheet on it says hazardous to aquatic animals but says nothing about poultry or other livestock. so... yeah not sure. but im sure a few coats of paint will seal it off

definitely sounds like you want to stop it from getting wet and leeching out any poisons, if they leeched out and stood as water droplets and curious birds were thirsty- I could see poisoned birds. imho.

edited/added- but if roofed properly and allowed to stay dry- those issues would be avoided. that is how I used it, as framing and then covered/protected from rain.

Green Wood Is Pressure Treated Pine Lumber? If So The Only Thing They Use On It Is Chileated Copper Sulfate... Its Bathed In It Under Pressure, Then Kiln Dried - Thus The "pressure Treated" Label...the Idea Is Its Toxic To Insects That Would Damage The Wood-- Specifically Termites And Some Wood Eating Ants- It Shouldnt Be Toxic To Any Birds.. Just Fish (and Insects If Consumed) As The Copper Can Leach Out Of It If Submerged And Build Up In Confined Water Bodies To A Toxic Level. Copper Is Actually Used As Medication In Fish In Controlled Environment To Cure Some Maladies If Needed, But Can Be A Tad Tricky.

No hemi, but currently pushing ~7 QP (quail power), plans to upgrade to ~10-12, luxurious cabin spacing of around 20 sq. feet.

don't know about ground effects, can barely get over the speed bumps in my neighborhood now.

still covering some of the bare wire and staples with top boards.

and I asked around and Grace says- all things considered, there is a chance the quail will be safe and happy, and she usually patrols night shift
