Quail waterer cups. Which ones?

I'd like to use the small red watering cups I've seen on YT for the "cat condos" I'm going to modify. This would give them more floor space. I'll probably do something with the food, too.

I thought the waterers were all the same. The beak pushes on a valve and the cup gets water in it. But I am seeing some on Chewy called "No Peck" and I have no idea how they work. They sure look like the kind the birds peck at to get water. I can't find anything on YT either.

And I've ran into others that are spring loaded. The lighter they get, they flip up and fill with water until they lower again... I can't see these working well if they get something in the hinge mechanism. Those were on Ebay if someone wants to see what they are.

Anyway... which ones are the standard most use?

Ideally I'd like to use a solid piece of PVC pipe that can easily be fastened to the cage on the outside with 2-3 cups, but then I guess I need an adapter to go from the cup's threads to the PVC? Or do they come with that?
I've seen some put these right on buckets, but I want to use pipe.

Nothing long term water supply, maybe just a 2L plastic bottle feeding it that I can top off each day or two.

Thanks for any help.

I use horizontal nipples, because I've heard those are the least prone to freezing, and that is going to be a huge concern for me. I briefly tried the ones that auto-refill a cup (probably how those no peck ones work) but found them both hilariously oversized for quail, prone to turning into little cups of all the gunk my chicks could possibly kick up, and also prone to flooding the cage if anything even slightly obstructed the valve.

I've been very happy with the horizontal nipples + an old yogurt lid tucked just below to catch drips before they soak into my woodchips, because my ladies are MESSY drinkers.

So I should Google horizontal nipples?
Okay... :lau

I don't think I've seen that type of waterer referred to in anything I've seen.
I'll see what Google comes up with. Maybe I'll add a word or two.

But for more information, My cages will be inside. So no freezing to worry about, but I certainly don't want them dripping onto the wood chips.

OK. Saw them.
These work with PVC piping? How do they fasten?

I'm guessing the bird still has to hit the silver plunger to release water into the cup?

Found horizontal nipples on Chewy.
They could not tell me a thing about them. Not the size, not how they work (the bird gets the water), not if they can work with PVC piping...
And the company that makes them does not have that information on their website.

This is what came with the cages that I bought.

They were originally installed on the inside of the inside of the cage, but frequently flooded the dropping trays. I moved them to the outside of the cage and that helped.

This is what I ended up using, clipped to the outside of the cage.

They worked fine in my setup. When I build a new system, I'll probably go with the nipples, either directly connected to PVC or with screw in adapters for a PVC Tee.

Nice site!
Check out this bad boy.

And it comes with the wire clip thing to hold the reservoir (1L) onto a cage.

This looks perfect. All kinds of goodies on that site.

Thanks

Perfect.
Exactly what I was trying to figure out how to make.

I have similar drinkers from Rent-a-Coop. They came with a horizontal nipple and a vertical one.

I use them on a transfer cage that I got from the same source.

Although I bought them on Amazon, the links are from the vendor.
