Quail Waterers

I have tired these drinking nipples but I sat and watched for a while and I don't think quail are strong enough to push the pin in. So I did the same as what we did for their feeder and cut holes in a container only just large enough for them to fit their heads in and not their bodies and just put water in it and some rocks and shiny washers since it encourages them to peck at the shiny washers and they discover the water. So far it's working but I'd love to find nipple waterers weak enough for a baby quail. I think these drinking nipples have a spring in them and need to be pushed harder then the quail chicks can.

This is one I'm thinking of trying next, a mouse waterer. I remember from when I had mice they would just lick the end and water would come down and they are a lot weaker since it's just a ball in the end and no spring so chicks might have more luck maybe.

The ‘mouse bottle drinker’ is what I’m using. It’s not working well for me, hence the thread. They just peck and peck and don’t drink all the water so it just makes all their bedding damp. The bottle drinkers work best with an aviary cup underneath but the style of cage I have prevents me from using a cup to catch the water.

Ah ok, I think that sadly might just be because they like pecking shiny things haha
This is what I have at the moment but sadly their heads are strating to get too big for the holes and I forsee that I will be making the holes bigger every few days to keep up with their growth. But we have had a lot less mess with water since we did this. We did it for their food to start with then thought why not try it for their water since everything else was getting popped in.
