We bought 6 Quails at an auction yesterday, 5 hens and one cock. When we got up this morning we saw that some of the droppings seemed very runny and red. I have been searching on the internet to try and find out what could be causing this, but can't seem to find anything. Can anybody offer soom enlightenment and/or advice please.

Depending on their age they might have cocci, or you may just be seeing the normal cecal poo that birds do once a day or so. Check out this link and see if anything looks familiar--It's all chicken, but you'll still get the idea of what cocci and cecal poo looks like.

Also, what are you feeding them? It could just be from the stress of auction and moving to a new place too.

We are feeding them quail feed we got from our local supplier, think its mainly chick crumbs and millett. Thanks for the advice. I will keep an eye on it and hopefully it is the stress option and will calm down today.
