I have a corturnix quail that broke her wing last night and the bone was through the skin. My wife was able to get the bone back in and wrap it. I'm concerned about the possibility of infection. Wondering if baytril or Pen G would be better and what the dosage is for quail and if it has to be done IM or if it's ok to do sub-q. Also... is there anything I can give her for pain or anything else I can do for her? It's a holiday so all vets are closed today except emergency vet. but I don't have hundreds of dollars just to walk through the door there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I dont know about antibiotics, but anytime a bird has a wound, I make sure to clean it well. I have used vetricyn and peroxide in a pinch. I know peroxide inhibits skin regrowth if used more than once, but you need to rinse with something to make sure no dirt is on the wound. Blue kote has worked on chickens to avoid infection. I haven't had any serious wounds with quail yet. I hope someone can be of more help.

We will be removing bandage in the morning to check for possible infection... Couldn't remove sooner because wing bone would just pop back out... Did spray with vetricyn...
