My brother went to the feed store and brought home a beautiful female golden coturnix quail. I immediately noticed she had somewhat closed nostrils. By that I mean her nostril flaps are almost fully closed. There is a small opening for her to breath but if she is running or doing something which causes her to need lots of oxygen she will breath from her mouth. My brother said all of the quail at the feed store had closed nostrils so I assumed it was a nutrition deficiency. I had a wyandotte hen with the same closed nostrils but hers opened up after a while. She is also sneezing occasionally. She has the type of sneeze that a person would have when they have a cold. Should I be worried?
Aside from the two problems she is perfectly normal. She eats, drinks, and plays fine. She is really sweet and tame for a bird I didn't raise.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
