In case anyone was wondering what happened, Bumblebee pulled through and recovered from his respiratory infection. After being "bed ridden" for so long, he's essentially learning to walk again, yet getting a little stronger every day. It's really remarkable to watch his progress. I don't think I'd have half of his determination in his place. I now move his hospital cage to the aviary during the day, causing a lot of excitement among the rest of the covey, who rush over to check him out and periodically hang out near or on top of the cage throughout the day. I think it will be several more weeks at least before he can rejoin them full time (especially since there's still a little bit of breeding season aggression lingering). I thought I was caring for him, but he's also really inspiring me.
