Quails

Do you WA as in a state in America or are you from Western Australia? Just wondering because I’m from NSW. 😉 Hopefully you can get some cute pics. And also like Nabiki said, what species of quails? 😊
I should have explained, live in Western Australia about a hour north of Perth on a hobby farm. Below is pics of my lovely new quails.

Okay cool, I live in NSW about 1-2 hrs from Sydney (city). I have some relatives who live a bit over an hour NE of Perth. Those are some cute quails! 🥰 Those mutations are really pretty and look good together! 😆

I raise my quail for several reasons. Eggs, meat, garden fertilizer, bug control, and to sell the eggs and birds. The demand for birds is incredible right now. I think a lot of people are starting to look at ways to be more self sufficient due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Yes. Amen to that about the COVID-19 crisis. It has chicken feed, hardware cloth, hog wire, and feed all in short supply and high demand where I live. It was hard during the past few months just to get things found and purchased for construction of our coop and run because of all the increased demand based on the demand from the pandemic. I had to wait two months longer than normal on chicks. First for chicks, then it was supplies. I did get the brand of heater I needed but missed out on the size. From the hatchery I only needed nine chicks. Well I only wanted a dozen to start I thought. I only ended up with nine chicks. These are very healthy pullets as far as I know. They all are doing very very well and I feel we have been very blessed. I am thrilled with the chicks and job from Meyer Hatchery. They were very selectively chosen at my request being a very picky and extremely particular person when it comes to my animals. :wee

Ah! That does make a difference but that is great.

Harvesting is still hard, everytime, ... but I have to admit, that quail is delicious. I don't wanna miss it anymore.

It also teaches me, that for meat, an animal has to die, also for these anonymous pieces in the supermarket.
It makes me more thankful to have a meal on the table.
