Quails

We have this large box with bedding and we feed her bird seed and once in a while we give her dried mealworms.
I give my quail a handful of meal worms every day. One male, seven females. I agree, I would not give them birdseed whatsoever. MAYBE as a treat once in a while, but not as a main source. Even chicken feed crumbles are not good enough for them. They sell GAMEBIRD pellets and my birds chow through that. It doesn’t need to be crumbles. You’ll save money if you get pellets. (Tractor Supply is inexpensive)

You should be careful of the mealworms too. They are very high in fat. They are great as an occasional treat or for a quick protein/fat boost.

If you don’t live anywhere near a farm & fleet or feed store you can find game bird feed online including Amazon. It will be pricier than bird seed, but malnutrition will result in premature death eventually so it’s worth to get that food asap :(
