Quality of life... UPDATE

I don't think that's a good thing to do. Something like that could cause a lot of guilt and resentment. I don't know the answer here, but somehow, if he agrees, both of you taking her to the vet to be peacefully put down would probably be the kindest and gentlest for you both.

I've thought about that. I'm home a good hour before him. What do I soak a rag in? Ethnol or something? What would be in my garage with that in it? I need to make sure I do the right thing so it happens fast and peacefully.

Ether, otherwise known as automotive starting fluid, not to be confussed with lighter fluid.

Add my dh to that list! He will try anything to keep from putting an animal 'down' and he grew up on a farm! He's just really attached to our animals.. IF he doesn't have the heart maybe a friend or neighbor could do it for you, while he is at work.. This is what I have to do.

I think it comes from them thinking they have to 'take care of everything'--being responsible for everyone's well being!

I am sorry about Buddy. I hope you find the right way to handle it...Dixie
