What does your quarantine coop, pen, house, cage look like? Pictures and dimensions would be wonderful..

I have had a stray pullet locked in a 2'x4' secure coop(7/8" plywood, with no roost, just lots of shavings) and with a 4'x4' attached 'run' (chainlink fencing covered with 1/2" hardware cloth, it has a wooden bottom, with lots of shavings). It sits about 4' off the ground and has a metal roof.. I am worried that this is not healthy for her. It seems so tiny and she seems lonely.. running the length of the run back and forth when she sees or hears the other chickens.. She has two more weeks in this cage... It's just something we had sitting around and 'modified' for her..

I want to get 4 more hens to add to my flock and I want to know what I need to build for them so they will be happy for a month in their quarantine coop...

Well she has plenty of room, and it's wise of you to maintain that quarantine. What if you hang a mirror outside the cage for her? Or even a stuffed animal like folks use for chicks?

It's just one of those things with lone chickens, and it sounds like it couldn't be helped. Your setup will be great when you add small groups of chickens. You will also be grateful for this if you ever have sick birds you need to quarantine. We have an "experimental" 3 x 4 coop on legs with an attached 4 x 8 covered run for quarantine, broodies with chicks, or whatever we need. Right now I have two hens camping out there until we can build more pens.

I think your girl will be fine.
