I wouldn't be surprised if this has been covered, but I couldn't find anything on it, probably due to keyword difficulty.

I would like to know if there are any concerns with mixing standards/bantams of the same breed.

Would only size be affected by the crossing or are there other traits that could be affected? Does anyone have experience with this, and how difficult is it to regain the breed standard for size if you do it? Are there good reasons in support of mixing them (like type, egg color improvement, etc...)?

Mainly I want to know if it's generally a bad idea or workable.

Thanks!

Personally I think most bantams have undesirable eye shape and lack of feathering around the eyes. . .

Otherwise, bantams normally are more U shaped, even breeds that shouldn't be, but I don't know if such trait would pass on. Beyond that, size really is a matter you're going to have to work at for some time. Especially when trying to convert bantams to LF. LF to Bantams I would find much easier though, but I've no say in it. Just opinion.
