I have read that pine shavings and straw are good bedding material for chickens. I have 3 RIR chicks just shy of a month old and I chose to go with ground up corn cobs and am really hoping that this was a good choice. Just never have heard much talk of the ground corn cobs... so thought I'd run that past you folks and get some input on that.. Thanks

Hello I think pine shavings may be a better choice if available because of mold and mildew
I think you may be right! Just found out by reading a discussion on this topic that the corn cob bedding can cause aspergillosis... I just got them cause they were a little cheaper

. Tomorrow they are going in the compost heap and will be replaced by pine shavings. Thanks Recbourbon for your tip.
