QUESTION ABOUT BUILDING AN INCUBATOR

i am thinking of building an incubator. But i have a few questions. I have read of people having things in their incubator so they can rotate their eggs. Is this a requirement? And if so how often do the eggs need to be rotated?

You need to turn 3 or 5 times a day to make sure the embryo doesn't stick to the shell. I turn by hand because I have a small homemade incubator.

Some folks lay the eggs on their sides and mark one side with an X and the other with and O. Mine are in a tilted egg carton. I flip it back and forth to turn them all at once.
