Question about candling ?

What is the earliest time for candling eggs ? i.e. I want to candle some eggs i put under a broody , what is the earliest day I can do this (candle) so i can replace the faked ones with anothers ??

If you only want to do it once..then wait til day 8 or 9. Sometimes if you candle too early- you may have a few eggs that you are unsure of- and want to leave a few more days and then check again. If your hen doesnt mind the disturbance too much- you should be able to see veins and the embryo clearly by 5 days. If you plan on adding more eggs- it may be a good idea to mark them- so you know which eggs are due with each group.

Wait until day 7 or 8 atleast. If you have darker eggs you may want to wait a little

longer, because they are harder to candle. If you candle to soon you wont be able to tell good

egg from bad.
