Since I have never had a chicken with clipped wings before, I was wondering, how high can they still get if both wings are clipped? I know it probably depends on the chicken, but I was looking for just a rough estimate. I have two banty mixes, and they can get onto the top of their 6' pen, when they are out free ranging, no problem. These girls are pretty petite. My concern is that from the top of their pen, they hop into my regular yard, where my dogs are, and I don't trust a few of my dogs to be very nice. Also, I plan on putting in a few garden beds within their space, and was wondering how high of a fence I would really need, once their wings were clipped.

Thanks!

I have found that clipping only one is more effective with light bantams, it throws them off balance. I would say the clipping of one wing will stop them from getting up 6 feet.
