The other day got up to 65 degrees here! Most days are in the 30s, so yaye! You bet your bottom I let my chicks out. They are 3 1/2 weeks old now. They were pretty wimpy and they didn't like the wind, but they need to toughen up. I'm hoping the weather man was right and we'll have more of that weather this week. I want to start introducing them to the flock. I'm going to try and put them in the coop at 5 weeks this year and see how it goes. Fingers crossed...
Sounds like you've been having some wonderful weather! Let me know how moving them outside goes. I hope you get more great temperatures and the move goes well

Mine will be going out at 6 weeks old. I didn't end up getting the Red Stars because my friend who was going in with me (minimum 25 chick order from the hatchery up here) backed out. So I ended up going to a breeder and getting 10 straight run Wyandottes. They were 2 weeks old when I got them, and now will be 5 weeks old on Monday.
The highs here have been in the 20's F and it's been snowing the last few days. So mine haven't been outside yet! But tomorrow we are getting up into the high 30's so I might let them run around on my deck. Later on in the week we are supposed to get up into the 50's F (oh I hope it happens!!) and the forecast looks great, so they'll be booted out next weekend into the coop. I will have lots of straw in there and if it gets cold again I'll put the heat lamp in there too. They are pretty much fully feathered so I think they should be okay?
I took this about a week ago....LOL Feathery at 4 weeks!
