When I was in college about a million years ago, we had to read Beowulf in the original old English. We all had to look up practically EVERY word for translation. Who'd've thunk that was ever ENGLISH. We worked at it so hard trying to remeber the translations for (I cannot imagine how many words) because the #$%^&&^%$ professor dropped hints that the exam would be in old English. Yeah, you're right; the test was all in contemporary English.
Did you see the movie Beowulf? Did you sit there asking yourself why they called it Beowulf? It barely had the essence of the actual story. Angeline Jolie (spelling?) for the mother of Grendel... SAY WHAT?
I seriously considered asking for my money back.
