Question about crested ducks?

When we got our Khaki Campbell ducklings about a year and a half ago I panicked since several were crested to varying degrees. All but one lost the crest as they got older. On her it's still really pronounced, but she has no problems and pretty much lays an egg a day.

I ended up the a crested Khaki Campbell as well...the only two from that order thank goodness. The KC is a male though so I will just rehome him probably in the next few months. He's only 2 months right now so I got a little time. His crest is a little bigger than the Blue Swedish one but it is still not overly big. You can actually see his head in the back of the second picture in the original post.

I have 2 black Swedish ducks but one is crested when I first got it there was no crest but after it got its feathers I noticed a small puff of feathers and is this really lethal Becuase I have 6 ducks total 2 black Swedish ducks 2 welsh harlequin ducks and 2 younger pekins I bought all the duck except the pekins from rual king so is this gene lethal also could this devolped as a result if it was dropped as a baby

it is lethal when two crested ducks reproduce, part of the clutch will die in the shell due to the lethal gene combination.
Those that survive (crested ducklings) are prone to neurological problems.
here is a thread of a woman battling the birth defect and the neurological symptoms associated with the crested gene.
This is the only duckling out of the four that were ordered that survived. One was dead before it arrived and the other two died due to complications of the crested gene

Your duckling you have now will probably be fine, especially since it's not a very big crest. Just don't breed him or hatch her eggs, depending on if it's a boy or a girl.
It only takes one parent to have the crested gene for some of the babies to come out crested and potentially have these life threatening deficiencies.

I don't know if it is a girl or boy but I don't really wish to seep rate it from the others I will not personally mean to breed them I will let them be Becuase I live on a farm I bought them just to enjoy mostly and to eat the egg would that be bad it consume the eggs

no, if you eat all of the eggs and don't let them hatch any, then you won't have a problem. I recommend if one of your ducks go broody, get her some muscovy eggs, then if they breed it won't matter because the babies will be infertile. Muscovy + your ducks make mule ducks.

Crates ducks are sweet and averagely good ducks but I'd be careful while breeding them . It's actually a good idea to not breed them but if so be careful .

Iike i said the only thing I will do is eat the eggs and I am just cncerened if they decided to sit on them
