Question about culling

I've have a sick hen that needs to be put out of misery, and I want to use the axe/stump method. What's the best method for securing the bird?

Hi there,

Two large nails driven into the stump, the width of the bird's neck (but not so wide that the skull will slip through). Place the bird's neck between the nails, hold the body/wings/legs away from the nails so the neck is stretched, then the deed is a little easier (if never easy).
