So first off I normally dont hatch my own eggs however we are thinking about buying an incubator this year. My wife brought up a good question. If you incubate a fertilized double yolk egg would you get twins or would one chick absorb the other yolk?

Most times, both yolks (not the yolks themselves of course but the fertilized cells) will start developing but will die during incubation. If they make it to hatch, most times one or both will die while hatching because they both can't pip and zip. It's not recommended that you incubate double yolkers.

Thanks guys I appreciate it. I wasn't planning on doing it I was just curious and my wife and I were discussing the possiblilities.
I am still in the research phase of buying an incubator. All that I know is that I dont want one of the small styrofoam ones from tsc. We are looking into one of the cabinet style ones
