I am fairly new to chickens I now have 11 wonderful Golden Comets
all laying for me. I would like to get about 3 chickens that lay green or
blue eggs. Is there any way to tell if a EE will lay green or blue eggs as
verses more brown eggs?

I have neighbors that have lots of chickens but know nothing about them.
They just free range some go in the coop at night some don't. Most eggs
if they are laying must be out in the woods. Seems like a pretty wild bunch
of chickens. I have seen quite a few with head and neck comb look right.
I am going back soon to try and get pictures. What about the slate legs
that the true Ameraucana have. If any have the slate legs would that be
an indication that they would lay the blue or green eggs??

Can anyone help me?? Tell me what to look for??

The only real way to tell is with their comb. If it is a pea comb, they should lay blue or green eggs. If it is a single comb, even a floppy or weird looking one, chances are she'll lay brown or light brown eggs.

Leg color does not tell, nor does earlobe color. A pale pink or slightly white earlobed pullet can still lay a pale colored egg.

This graphic is wonderful! I'm new, and am still learning all the different terms. Thank you!

While pea comb is close to the blue egg gene, it is not a guarantee you will get blue or green eggs. Additionally, single combs are not a guarantee you will get brown eggs. The only guarantee is to buy a bird who is already laying or stick with Ameraucana or Araucana which should only lay blue and greenish colored eggs.
