Do they usually eat the shell in addition to the egg? I'm just wondering if I will always know that they are eating eggs by finding a shell left behind. I haven't found any evidence of egg eating since Wednesday.

Usually they eat the eggs because they need extra calcium in the first place, so yes, the

shells are normally eaten.

However if you have an eggeater, they somtimes start breaking

the eggs just for the insides.
