Question about egg size for incubator

Im thinking of making a incubator for future quail. Heres my questions

Can I use egg cartons to hold the quail eggs durring incubation? Or are they to small and will flop around. Im wanting to do 3 cartons on a as pivoting shelf. Kinda like a egg turner but manual (im handy n trying to be cheap)

For lockdown im thinking a drawer type box on the bottom inside. Mesh on bottom. Anyone see a future issue with that?

Egg cartons are fine. If you go to advanced search and select my user name and search for incubator(s) you should come across one or more of my home made bators. If you cant find anything just ask.
