I saved eggs because I thought a goose was getting ready to go broody. She lost interest and I boiled the eggs I had saved and let my grandaughter color them for easter

Another goose went broody this morning and only has two eggs to set on. My question is..... do geese have an internal clock that tells them how long they need to set? What I wondered is if I could take the eggs from the incubator that are two weeks in and doing great and switch them with the two that she has. would she know that they are not hers when they hatch really really early or will she just think she is an exceptional mama????? I have 7 in the bator that are developing nicely. this would keep me from going thru that hatch stress that I go thru with the incubator eggs. Is this doable????

I think if she is broody the chicks can hatch out anytime and she will take care of them... Just make sure you sneak the eggs in when she is asleep and make double sure she is really broody or you will loose your eggs... Also once they hatch take out any unhatched eggs so she is not waiting for those to hatch but can dedicate all her attention to her new brood... Goodluck...

thanks... I was going to wait a few days to make sure she stays put.. went out to spread clean litter and she is out swimming.. NOT broody... thanks for the answers tho. May be useful at some point in the future.. Thanks again.

and BTW... the goose eggs made BEAUTIFUL easter eggs. Really pretty, I took a green scrub pad and really scrubbed them clean before I boiled them and they took the color really well.
