Hi, how do you feed back their eggshells? What consistency do you break them up to? To you sprinkle on the ground or offer them in a dish? So far my 2 laying have had hard shells and I want to keep them that way. Thanks!

Hi their. To feed the egg shells, smash them and put them somewhere they would find them. Whenever I eat eggs, I save the egg shells and give my hens some of it. It is really good for them and haven't have any problems. If you worry they would choke, they won't or just smash the shells into pieces so it would be easier for them to eat. Feeding egg shells is a good source of calcium deposit for laying hens.

I baked mine for 30 minutes at 250F to cook all the white left in them and kill the bacteria that could possible be there, then I crushed them in big pieces because I read that the bigger the pieces when they eat them it takes longer to digest so there is more calcium absorbed. It is important to keep a dish of oyster shells and a dish of crushed eggs shells all the time. Mine favor the egg shells but when I am out of them they can eat the oyster shells.
