Feed them all chick Starter Grower feed till onset of lay with a separate container of Oyster Shells.
I actually feed my 27 month olds a Non-Medicated Start and Grow feed with Oyster Shells separately, because I have a small flock and I can get a 25# bag. My girls love it and the eggs are great. GC
Yes. My hens were on Layers pellets for over a year before I switched back to a Non-Medicated Starter-Grower.is that ok even if my older girls are already laying
Yes. My hens were on Layers pellets for over a year before I switched back to a Non-Medicated Starter-Grower.
I have 3 hens (lost 2 earlier this year) and a 40-50# bag of feed goes bad before its used up.
I have been feeding the Start and Grow since Memorial day and the girls really like the feed.
I keep a separate container of Oyster Shells separately.
My eggs are great. GC
You can feed starter/grower until they start laying, then switch or just keep them on starter/grower and have oyster shell in a separate container. I feed starter/grower all the time with oyster shell in a container. I've never used layer feed.
