Question about guinea color

A while back I got some keets, and a couple looked a bit different. I know the typical pearls are brown with those stripes on their head/face. Well some of mine looked like a normal one, but with a white face around the eyes. Right now they are feathering out, and looking like they'll be normal pearls, except for a few white flights. Is that what caused the white face? Please excuse my lack of guinea knowledge, I just know these were some pretty babies when they were little!

They sound like pied pearls, which would cause the white on their faces. There is a good color ID chart at http://www.guineafowlinternational.org/colorchart/ that will show you the different colors as adults and keets.

I agree though, even if your birds are feahtering out they really do not exibit the pied pattern until they start their yaking. (8 weeks they can be sexed via their calls.)
