Building my first coop and run. I bought a few rolls of 1/8”, 23 gauge cloth and started putting it up. It doesn’t seem strong enough to keep raccoons and foxes out, so I ordered some 1/2”, 19 gauge cloth. Should I just leave the 23 gauge mesh up and put the 19 gauge cloth over it? Or should I take the 23 gauge cloth down first?
I can’t think of a reason to take it down and I’m thinking doubling up wouldn’t be bad, but I’m new at this (obviously! 🥴) and looking for some help before I make yet another pricey and time consuming mistake! Thanks!

I'd go ahead and go right over the top of it. It will help keep small snakes from getting in there and getting eaten by the chickens.

I'd leave it will keep snakes out. They eat chicks and eggs. I have the fine hardware cloth around the bottom of my run, which is now chain link. I used hardware cloth for many years, but it just looked crappy and we have bears.
