Where is the best/cheapest place to purchase harware cloth? I am having trouble finding any that is wider than 36" and the studs on my coop are 4' apart so 36" will not work.

I purchased 4 foot hardware cloth at home depot. I don't know the cheapest place to buy it. It is definitely not cheap stuff.

Farm/feed stores are often willing to special order wider widths for you as long as you are willing to buy a full roll (usually 50 or 100', for hardwarecloth type stuff)... *ask*, they won't volunteer it

Otherwise you may have to use two narrower widths and just join them securely, there are a variety of methods for it. Run the hardwarecloth horizontally to avoid the 4' stud spacing problem.

Good luck, ahve fun,

Pat

If 2x4 is okay, Lowes carries some in 4 and 5 feet (or is it 5 and 6 feet?). You can put something smaller on the bottom, and the 2x4 isn't too terribly expensive.
