ok, so I am new to hatching. I have done two sets of eggs now. I got about a 60 to 65% hatch rate both times. Temp first time was 100.5 the whole time. The second hatch it did fluctuate some 99.4 to 102ish. One day one it did jump to 108 and day 15ish it jumped to 103(second hatch). But at lock down it stayed level. Humidity was between 50 to 55 for the first 18 days for both then 60 to 65 after lockdownuntil chicks started hatching. It is a still air little giant incubator (borrowed from a cousin) with an automatic turner.
My question is this. What can I do to raise my rate. Most of the chicks have died after absorbing at least half of the yoke. What is happening? When opening the eggs chicks are fully developed and ok to be a healthy size and no defects.
I will take any advice you all have to offer to raise my rate. I know 100% is hard to get. But I hate seeing fully developed chicks not make it all the way.
I am not planning on hatching any more this year. And I am also planning on buying my own incubator for next year.
I hope this covers all the information needed to help. Thanks everyone
