Question about hens accepting duckling after separation.

    Well you guys were right about not keeping the babies in with the adult mandarins. I had 5 hatch out yesterday and left one in with the hen. Everything was going well, but I went to check on them a couple hours ago and the duckling had gotten it's head stuck in my 3/4" mesh. I think I found him in time, but he looks like he was stuck for a good while and is a bit worn out. My question is, if I give them a week or so to put on a little size is there any chance that the female will accept them again or is it too late? I am thinking of picking up some 1/2" wire to line the bottom of the pen for my other eggs that will be hatching soon.
