Question about herbicides and chickens

Ok, to keep from hijacking this thread, I'm going to post another about homeschooling over in social or general, as I'd really enjoy swapping notes with you guys.
 
I have a friend whose dog died from eating some grass he sprayed with RoundUp. I wouldn't take a chance with the chicks until you know for sure he didn't get any on the grass inside the coop. Was he very close to it ? Also, was the day windy enough that some could have blown into the coop ?

I agree, except for runoff, a good rain should help.
 
grass sprayed w/round-up will not kill the dog or any animal for that matter. As soon as glysophate (active ingredient in round-up) hits the plant it is metabolized. If it hits the ground it is made ineffective.

Most chemicals will be absorbed by the plants w/in 7 days. As far as poison ivy, chickens won't eat it anyway, so no problem.
